For half a century, its members and their friends have worked to make the Village of El Portal a better place in which to live. In 1946, soon after the end of World War II, national optimism ran high. Men and women were uniting to forge a new home front and community pride meant a great deal. The El Portal Woman’s Club works diligently to improve the Village of El Portal and engage the neighborhood in community initiatives. Our success lies in the manner in which we are organized. Without the division of committees, our work would not be nearly as effective. We encourage everyone to be active in the organization and join a committee - it's also a great way to get to know your neighbors more intimately!

The Village of El Portal is a secluded, modern Garden of Eden that encompasses barely a square mile. It was incorporated on December 6, 1937, A.D. at the residence of H. H. Filer. There were 25 homes that were included in this incorporation of El Portal. The Village was incorporated by 34 out of 41 votes. Mr. W.O. Robertson was appointed Mayor.
